Global private schools index launched by Carfax Education in partnership with Spear’s Magazine

August 31, 2020

Carfax Education, the leading global education group, announced the launch of the first international ranking of top private schools, the Spear’s Schools Index. In partnership with Spear’s, the award-winning magazine for high-net-worth individuals, Carfax Education has released the first global index, which lists the 100 best private schools around the globe.

Categorized by region, prospective parents and pupils can now access a list of the top 100 schools across the UK, Switzerland, Europe, USA, Middle East, China, Southeast Asia and the rest of the world, expertly chosen by Carfax Education and Spear’s.

As well as formal criteria such as academic results and preparation for university entry, schools are ranked on their unique ethos, their reputation both locally and internationally, and how adequately they prepare students for life beyond academia. The guide provides a comprehensive overview of curriculum and fees as well as practical information such as travel times to local airports.

Top schools listed for 2020 that are providing exceptional education for students, include the well-renowned British boarding schools such as Eton College and Harrow School as well as those further afield, such as Pembroke House in Kenya and Aitchison College, Pakistan. With Carfax Education experts on the ground across the world, the index is the most comprehensive global list available.

Fiona McKenzie, Head of Education, Carfax Education, said: “We provide expert education consultancy across the world, with offices in London, Oxford, Monaco, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Moscow, Singapore and Hong Kong. We foster a distinctive drive for excellence, and that starts with our team, so we are extremely well placed to offer an objective view on the best private schools across the globe.

“Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions a family will make for their child and that’s why we wanted to create an index that provides a trusted perspective on the very best schools. The impact of a child’s educational experience goes far beyond the academic alone, and for that reason we looked at each school’s unique ethos and how they prepare students for the future, when determining schools that made the cut.

“Our moto is ‘academic excellence without borders’ and we’re so pleased that we were able to reflect this in being part of the first global ranking of schools – with institutions from almost every continent included. We know that finding the right school can be a daunting experience and we hope that this comprehensive list will assist many families through what can be a confusing time.”

Edwin Smith, Editor, Spear’s Magazine, said: “Spear’s has built an unrivalled reputation for helping our high-net-worth readers to find the very best advisors – people they can trust to look after the things that matter most. Each year we update our indices of the leading wealth managers, property advisors, divorce lawyers, tax advisors and reputation managers – but never before have we produced an index of leading schools.

“With the help of experts at Carfax Education, we have whittled down an array of fantastic schools from around the globe and retained just the 100 very, very best. We are delighted to be able to add schools to our highly acclaimed indices so that parents and families have the objective guidance they need when selecting the right school for their most precious assets of all.”

Lists in this year’s Spear’s Schools Index include:

CARFAX QUOTED IN ABUDHABI WORLD

January 27, 2017

Christopher Gyngell, Manager of Carfax Education, Abu Dhabi, was recently quoted in AbuDhabi World’s article on ‘Where will innovation in education take learning in the future?’ discussing personalized education plans for children.

Christopher Gyngell“Five years ago, the big trend was making education available to all. That period is over, and now it’s moving into personalized plans for each individual child.

You see this particularly through the use of online portals. Children can log in, see their homework and return it to the teacher, while parents can communicate and see grades. It’s an example of when technology in schools works very well.

Now that schools have caught up in implementing this idea, it can only go further – for example, if a child is struggling with a topic in maths, the teacher can set extra homework.

But I caution against an over-reliance on it. Classroom teaching can never be replaced, and at some point that extra interface is needed to get through a hurdle – that’s when teaching becomes great.”
