Carfax Pupils: Olympic Success for Carfax Guardians Pupil

January 12, 2015

“I am sure that even Olympic glory could be on the cards in the future!” – these were the words of a Shrewsbury School Housemaster, when he saw his pupil Artem after the Wallingford Head competition this winter.

Artem, who according to his guardian ‘shows tremendous dedication to and ability in all of his IGCSE subjects’, competed in the Wallingford Head Race, completing the 4,250m of the River Thames in 17 minutes and 7 seconds. Rowing teams at Shrewsbury School regularly compete at the Henley Royal Regatta, one of the very top international sports events; since 1919 Shrewsbury has been the most successful school with a total of 14 wins at Henley, and Artem is proud to be part of this sporting tradition.
